Caerus Oil and Gas is managed by a highly experienced Executive Leadership Team with governance provided by its Board of Managers.

Executives

Prior to co-founding Caerus Oil and Gas, David Keyte spent 22 years with Forest Oil Corporation, the last 14 years as its Chief Financial Officer. He resigned from that position to co-found Caerus Oil and Gas. In his tenure with Forest, Mr. Keyte was principal in 25 significant merger and acquisition transactions totaling $7.7 billion.

Two of those transactions were awarded Oil and Gas Investor’s Financial Deal of the Year for their creative structure and significant value creation. In addition, Mr. Keyte was principal in 47 capital market transactions totaling $8.5 billion in that time period. Mr. Keyte is a Director of Regal Entertainment Group, the largest movie exhibition company in the United States. Mr. Keyte holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to co-founding Caerus Oil and Gas, Matt Wurtzbacher served as President and Director of Puckett Land Company, a private company engaged in the acquisition, development and production of natural gas in the Piceance Basin of Western Colorado.  Mr. Wurtzbacher has 30 years of diverse upstream oil and gas experience including nine years with Forest Oil Corporation where he served as Senior Vice President – Corporate Planning and Development, participating with Mr. Keyte in many merger, acquisition, divestiture and capital market transactions.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Wurtzbacher served in various engineering and management positions with Tenneco Oil Company, Chevron Corporation, Apache Corporation, Enron Oil and Gas Company and Schlumberger.  Mr. Wurtzbacher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College, a Master of Business Administration degree from Syracuse University and is a registered Petroleum Engineer in Colorado and Alberta.

Mr. Thomas has been the CFO at Caerus Oil and Gas since 2011. He joined Caerus as the Company’s first hired employee in charge of business development in January, 2010.  Prior to that, Mr. Thomas served as Senior Business Development Engineer for Puckett Land Company, a private company engaged in the acquisition, development and production of natural gas in the Piceance Basin of Western Colorado.

Prior to that, Mr. Thomas was a member of Chevron’s MBA Finance Development Program; he also spent four years with Forest Oil Corporation in various engineering capacities. Mr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in Systems Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania and earned honors of High Distinction from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, where obtained his Master of Business Administration degree.
